Welcome to Taylor Brothers Memorial Project
We are raising funds to honor the memories of William and Charles Taylor, who changed the course of the design of the Uilleann Pipes (Irish Bagpipes). They emigrated to America from Drogheda, Ireland and spent much of their American lives working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where they did their innovative work as pipe makers, and ultimately where they died. They are buried in a pauper's grave in the Old Cathedral Cemetery. This project is aimed at memorializing the Taylor Brothers with a tombstone. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of the donations will go to providing a memorial at their gravesite.
Tombstone Dedication: May 23, 2026 in Philadelphia
(tentatively)
“The pipes created by Taylor Brothers helped to bring the music of Ireland to the United States.”
